Domaine de Rambeau

Dating from 1784, Domaine de Rombeau is situated in a lovely hilltop position in Castelmoron-sur-Lot in the peaceful Lot-et-Garonne countryside, 39km from Agen and 60km from Bergerac - both of which have airports.

The property offers a delightfully renovated barn (the Cottage, or Gite) with 5 en suite bedrooms. The Cottage has access to the large heated pool with its own 'beach' and 'swim against current', there's also a jacuzzi and sauna. Everything is set within the walled courtyard of the main Maison de Maitre Farmhouse.

Depending upon the size of your group, during July and August, you are offered the opportunity of booking up to 4 of the 4 additional boutique style ensuite rooms in the Farmhouse which are otherwise let on a Bed & Breakfast basis. When all 4 rooms are booked you are guaranteed exclusivity of the Domaine. In total there are 9 bedrooms and 9 bath / shower rooms, sleeping up to 24 in comfortable beds. The French and English owners are willing to provide breakfast and/or evening meals which are payable locally.

An array of activities are offered in the area, such as horse riding and cycling and the owners can even arrange for you to try archery. Bike hire is also available locally and bikes to suit your specific needs, plus cycle helmets, can be delivered to Domaine de Rambeau for you. Wine lovers can visit the local vineyards of Duras, Buzet, Bergerac and Marmande. The night market in Laparade, just a short drive away is not to be missed.

Ground floor:

Fully equipped kitchen area plus utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer
Large lounge with dining area, TV with UK free to air channels, WiFi and DVD player
Queen size en suite bedroom

First floor:

2 double en suite bedrooms
1 triple en suite bedroom (a double and a single)
1 twin en suite bedroom
Another single bed can be made available if required

Outside:

Fabulous heated pool with 'swim against current', 2m deep end and even its own 'beach'
Relaxation spa area with sauna, jacuzzi and fitness equipment
Table tennis and boules
At the rear of the cottage there is a private terrace and BBQ exclusively for the cottage - although you are welcome to use any of the communal facilities including the garden
The cottage kitchen door which leads onto the courtyard is operated by a PIN code so that small children cannot access the pool area unaccompanied

The Farmhouse - 4 bedrooms (sleeps 12)

Ground floor:

Living and dining rooms
Large en suite bedroom with king size bed

First floor:

Large family en suite bedroom with king size bed and small double bed
2 large en suite bedrooms with a king size and a single bed in each
It is also possible to add two single beds and two single foldaway beds to the first floor bedrooms if required
Any number of babies can be catered for and all rooms can accommodate the beds plus a cot

Outside:

Fabulous heated pool with 'swim against current', 2m deep end and even its own 'beach'
Relaxation spa area with sauna, jacuzzi and fitness equipment

Changeover day is Saturday - flexible arrival dates may be possible subject to availability

Exclusivity of the heated pool/spa is guaranteed during July and August when the Cottage is booked along with the 4 additional rooms. At other times the additional rooms are reserved for bed & breakfast unless the whole domaine is booked by one group

The heated pool will be open from the end of April (weather permitting) and the jacuzzi and sauna are available all year round

Cots, highchairs, baby monitors, stair gates and a selection of toys are available at no extra charge – please request when booking

Catering, babysitting and cleaning service available – subject to availability (paid locally)

Bike hire is also available locally and bikes to suit your specific needs plus cycle helmets can be delivered to the property for you

The owner has pets, ducks, chickens, ponies for pony rides and a pig called "Pigasso"

Gracious hosts with a fantastic knowledge and enthusiasm for the local area, but far from intrusive. We particularly enjoyed an evening visit to a farmers market and festival. Secluded spot with splendid panorama of rolling farmland by day and spectacular views of the night sky after sun down. Light and sound pollution is all but non-existent, bar indigenous wildlife. Plenty of space and more than ample facilities maintained to the highest standard. (August 2018)

The house was amazing and has been renovated to a very high standard the highlight was the pool area. The owner went above and beyond to cater for us and to accommodate the children. French Gite Holidays were excellent and so helpful with all of our enquiries. (July 2016)
